Neuroplasticity programmes

What is the Move2Connect method?

The modalities I work with are body-based, non-talking therapies, also known as “bottom-up” therapies. They calm and balance the autonomic nervous system and address the central nervous system. In doing so, they gradually reduce social, emotional, behavioural, sensory and learning challenges.

I work to ensure that a person is secure in each of the following layers of the pyramid before moving up to the next level. For example, if a child does not feel safe in the world, it is pointless trying to sort their handwriting out!

Bottom-up rather than top-down

Talking therapies or other therapies that require participants to name emotions or actively comply with instructions are a “top-down” approach. Neuro-developmental therapy, which works with the plasticity of the brain and nervous system is a “bottom-up” approach.

I was one of the first practitioners to train in Polyvagal Theory and the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) in the UK shortly after it became available, so much of my current work is in the supervision/mentoring of newly trained SSP practitioners and advanced SSP training. I do still work with clients directly, however – having worked with thousands of clients, and each journey with the Safe and Sound Protocol is completely different.

Register for my training on Primitive Reflexes and Polyvagal Theory here, or register for my group SSP sessions (for SEND Parents only) here.

I’m a member of Action Trauma, the UK Psychological Trauma Society and the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.

Move2Connect Neuroplasticity Programmes

Our development in early childhood is similar to walking up a flight of stairs: we take one step at a time in order to progress to the next. We can skip steps, but this is not the most efficient way for our brains to develop and make the connections necessary to function in life without challenges.

Here is an overview of all the neuroplasticity programmes Move2Connect works with.

Primitive reflex integration

Primitive reflex integration can help people discover the developmental steps that they have missed by showing the central nervous system what it should have done first time around, and making new, higher brain connections.

Those with behavioural, emotional, postural or learning challenges all have one thing in common: they have a prevalence of active primitive reflexes/retained reflexes. These are the reflexes we are all born with, which should have disappeared within the first two years of our lives, as we progress through the “typical” milestones, such as rolling, sitting, crawling, etc, within the “typical” window of development. If we do not integrate these primitive reflexes, they remain “retained” in our systems causing various challenges throughout life.

What is Primitive Reflex Integration?

By using a combination of specific foetal and infant movement patterns, sometimes alongside a specially designed sound programme, it is possible to “reboot” the nervous system, giving you a second chance to meet those developmental milestones.

The Safe and Sound Protocol

The Safe and Sound Protocol (or SSP) is a revolutionary sound-based therapy designed to help those trapped in a fight/flight/freeze cycle.

The protocol is designed for those with trauma and anxiety, and can also help neurodivergent people, who are traumatised as a result of being made to fit into a neurotypical world.

It is the only auditory programme that works specifically with the vagus and facial nerves using filtered music, which impacts on social engagement and helps regulate the autonomic nervous system.

The effects of completing this five-hour programme are a calmer nervous system, improved social engagement and decreased anxiety.

The Safe and Sound Protocol is a five hour programme of specially filtered music, designed to produce cues of safety for your nervous system by training the auditory pathways to focus on the frequency envelope of the human voice rather than the irrelevant high and low frequency sounds that a sensitive nervous system tunes into.

Delivery of the SSP looks different for each individual I work with, because I work at the speed of an individual’s nervous system rather than to a plan or schedule.

For further information on the Safe and Sound Protocol, please contact me for a free pre-assessment/discovery call, or try the SSP Connect.

Soundsory

Neuroplasticity programmes 5

Soundsory is a 40-session programme of rhythmic, ecclectic playlists coupled with movement, delivered using a bone conduction headphone. It is a multi-sensory programme, designed to help people with sensory, emotional, motor control and learning challenges.

The difference between Soundsory and the iLs Focus is that Soundsory is a turn-key therapy at a one-off cost and is requires no input from a practitioner.

Move2Connect has been so excited by the results of Soundsory that we are now a distributor.

iLs Focus

The iLs Focus system incorporates auditory stimulation, movement and vision exercises in order to help the body and brain to reorganise.

This is a true one-stop shop neuroplasticity therapy, requiring dedication and discipline on the part of parents or caregivers for an effective result.

The most benefit is seen with a minimum of 3 hours’ listening per week, with 15-20 minutes of movement in each hour’s listening.

Forbrain

Forbrain® is a revolutionary brain training device that empowers everyone to harness their voice to boost their brain.

This is a device with a one-off cost rather than a programme, but is wholeheartedly endorsed by Move2Connect.

It can be used on a daily basis, alongside the other modalities, or as a standalone.

The user just needs to wear a special bone conduction headset for a few minutes per day, which gives them realine feedback, and has the effect of retraining the way the brain processes information. It can be used by anyone, including those learning other languages.

Move2Connect Neuroplasticity Programmes at a Glance

I am often asked what the difference between the various sound programmes I work with is, and how much commitment to each programme is required. I decided to collate this information so you can compare and contrast in your research before we speak.
