Retained Primitive Reflexe Exercises

Learn about Primitive Reflex Integration – Rhythmic Movement Training

What are Primitive Reflexes?

When we are born, our brainstem is the only fully functional part of our brain. The movements we make as foetuses and newborns are all reflexive, rather than voluntary. These early (inter-uterine and primitive) reflexes should all mature into adult postural reflexes by the time we are a year old. However, sometimes, “typical” development is disrupted – due to trauma, hereditary or environmental factors, meaning that these early reflexes cannot mature as they are supposed to.

Those with DSM-V diagnoses, such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Anxiety etc all have retained primitive reflexes.

To be clear, primitive reflex integration is not about a “cure” for a diagnosis – it’s a body-based, non-invasive, drug-free way to reduce struggles that people with these diagnoses may face.

About Move2Connect

Move2Connect specialises in gentle, movement-based techniques to support emotional regulation, anxiety, sensory challenges, and learning difficulties.

I work with individuals of all ages to help them reach their full potential.

I have over 9 years experience in the field, and am a leading expert in the application of polyvagal theory in my practice, which is based from a homely log cabin in rural Sussex, although I also travel to some clients, and work remotely with the Safe and Sound Protocol as well as some somatic training for parents.

Clients generally visit every four weeks for a review and to adjust the programme if necessary, but intensives are also available.

The Safe and Sound Protocol is also available 100% remotely for those who are unable to access clinic visits.

To help busy families, I offer evening and Saturday appointments.
